Serendipity at an Wedding Shoot

A few weeks back, friends of mine asked me to help them with some pre-wedding photos.  Since they lived in Richmond, I chose the Richmond Olympic Oval as the first location.  It's fairly convenient for parking and is a short walk - important when you have bride to be in a gown.

Our first few shots were for some individual cover page style shots:

A simple umbrella softbox from the right and a bare flash held by wife aimed at the background was all that it took.

Next, we went walked over to a nearby area and was setting up a shot when this couple on a tandem bicycle stopped and offered to let us use their bike for a shot.  So we said sure, why not? I was setting up a few shots and then this large dog was coming by with their owners. The bike owner asked if they could borrow the dog and brought it right over.  And we ended up with this shot:

I don't think I could have planned this any better...

It's wonderful how things just turn out sometimes isn't it? After that, we finished it off with a few more shots in and around the area.

Then we proceeded to Britannia Shipyards and got this series in front of an old blockhouse and the nearby area.

The lesson at the end of the day is, anything can happen, just go with the flow!
